Alright! I am all pumped up about the release of Denied By Reign. I am planning to burn a load of CDs and hand them out to my classmates at school. I have two suggestions (actually more like requests) for the release. One, I really enjoyed the announcement of the project that explained what Severed Fifth is and what your goals are for the project. I was considering including that in the CDs, but that announcement is from the perspective of not having released anything. It would be nice to have another message from you to stick at the end, after the songs, for people to find out more about the project. Two, it would be really frustrating to go to the Severed Fifth site on release day and not be able to download the music because your site was overloaded (though I guess it would be a nice problem for you to have). Are you considering maybe using Bit-Torrent as a distribution method?
Thats great news that you are going to help distribute CDs - that is such a great way to spread the word about Severed Fifth.
So, onto your comments:
* I was thinking of a similar thing, and I am actually planning on recording something for the release day, but probably a video message.
* As for uptime of the website - I am in touch with my hosting company (Bytemark - who donate the Severed Fifth hosting for free btw, so go and check them out at http://www.bytemark.co.uk/) and I think we should be good.
As for BitTorrent - yes, it will be available on BitTorrent and the BitTorrent seed will be promoted on www.severedfifth.com - cool huh?
Sweet, then that's covered! Also, I just have to say that the more sneak peeks I listen to, the more excited I am getting. Especially sneak peak 8! That sounds amazing. You can count on my to be seeding come the 21st. I can hardly wait.
PS - Bytemark looks pretty interesting, but do they take order from the States? My current host isn't all that good, and I am looking into alternatives when my contract with them runs out.
jono - have you thought about actually producing a full CD insert, with both an explanation of the project, but also the lyrics? Ideally something that could be easily printed, cut-to-size and stapled together in reasonable manner to fit inside a CD case?
mrben - in the works. It won't be released tomorrow, but will be in the next week or so. The art for the front and back cover will be released tomorrow at full 300dpi CD cover size.
