Introduction By The Editor
It is the start of a new year, and the start of a new age for music. Great composers came before us that shared their gift with the world. Not for money or fame; They wanted others to delight and enjoy music as they did. It is upon this rock that we stand to create music today; No different than it was in the past and with no less honesty.
The music industry today is not as it should be. It tends to take away the freedom of artists to create and share their music. It is like a cycle of decay that needs a fresh new outlook.
Enter Severed Fifth, a project started by Jono Bacon to release completely open and free music for all to share. This is nothing new, and such bands exist and even are popular among fans. Severed Fifth does not just exist to make music however. They exist to make a difference. Severed Fifth aims to change the music industry for the better; and to end the cycle of decay that is causing such a damper on the freedom to create and share.
A large part of what Severed Fifth hopes to accomplish and change the music industry is about giving other bands an example. They can begin to realize that they can do this too, and not have to depend upon and industry or economy.
The fans and advocates of Severed Fifth are called the Street Team; A group of fans and volunteers who support a positive change in the music industry. Severed Fifth make their music uniquely for the fans whom advocate and share it further. They accomplish this with several community projects and collaboration and usually just plain fun! Anyone is welcome to contribute and call themselves a member of the Street Team.
This fanzine is made by the community, for it. Anyone is welcome to take things into their own hands and contribute. I give you, Fanzine Edition # 4
